Liquid Rocket Engine Design

A preliminary liquid rocket propulsion system for payload transfer from LEO to GEO.

Description

As part of a team rocket propulsion project, we designed a preliminary liquid rocket propulsion system for moving a payload from Low Earth Orbit to Geostationary Earth Orbit. My work focused on propulsion sizing, engine cycle selection, feed system logic, ignition system concepts, mass-ratio calculations, cooling mechanism choices, and tank pressurization modeling.

The project was a paper design, not a fired engine, but it made clear how tightly coupled propulsion-system decisions become across a full mission architecture.
