Description
For an aerospace structures team project, we designed and manufactured a structural plate component. We first ran preliminary FEA in SolidWorks to predict stress concentrations and likely failure behavior.
The physical part was then tested using strain gauges in a hydraulic testing machine. Comparing experimental strain data against FEA predictions made the strengths and limits of simulation much more concrete.
